According to published reports, international conglomerate Proctor & Gamble, owner of the venerable Duracell line of batteries and portable lights, is considering selling off some parts of its brand line. The company is said to want to focus on high-margin brands and apparently the Duracell line isn't considered to be in that class.
LED manufacturer Avago Technologies has filed for an initial public offering (IPO) and plans to sell up to $400 million in shares. The folks at aftermarket lamp-maker Lumens Factory have announced that they will be adding replacement LED lamp modules. The new modules will use Cree X-RE high-power LEDs and will be first seen in their D26-LED and D36-LED Series modules. The first products will be single mode versions with multiple mode products coming in the future.
A man from Tenino, Washington could face federal charges after being identified as the owner of a green laser that illuminated a State Patrol airplane. According to press reports, the FAA has documented over 900 cases of lasers being aimed at aircraft since 2004.
