LITTLE FALLS, N.J. - mPhase Technologies (OTCBB: XDSL) today said that the company is positioned to continue its pace setting course to reinvent the design of batteries capable of powering portable electronic devices. The mPhase Smart Nanobattery is a radical new approach to energy storage.

Development in 2007 will focus on the following areas:

  • Consumer
    • The company is developing a battery for potential use in consumer commerce and security applications like active RFI Radio Frequency ID tags;
  • Military
    • Earlier this year, the battery showed promising results in the initial phase stress testing of its internal structures with the US Army at Picatinny arsenal opening the way for potential use in military applications like smart munitions;
    • The company has done specific testing for aero space applications in conjunction with a major military contractor;
    • Higher power density - Work continues with Rutgers' Energy Storage Research Group (ESRG) to meet higher power density requirements;
    • Rechargeable battery - The company is enthusiastic about the potential of creating a rechargeable battery.

The creative new battery architecture was recognized in numerous external reports and awards during 2006.

  • Scientific American In its February, 2006 edition, the prestigious and authoritative Scientific American Magazine featured the nanobattery in a four-page feature article "Miniaturized Power." in its February issue.
